League Structure
Our club currently has all but two teams in the Great Lakes Soccer League (GLSL). This league and the Michigan State Youth Soccer Association
(MSYSA) are primarily volunteer organizations.
The GLSL normally has 325 - 400 teams participating per season. The large number of
teams in the league enables them to offer many divisions within most age groups. This
allows for competitive team play with a goal of not having severely lopsided contests. The
league names its divisions after lakes. Our club, as with any other, can request that our
teams be placed in certain divisions. However, the league will ultimately decide where to
place the teams. From season to season, teams will either stay in their division or be
moved to different divisions based upon their immediate past performance, overall club
performance and or other factors. The GLSL considers the divisions where most of our teams
play "recreational divisions." The GLSL also provides two open divisions where
communities and clubs can have "select" teams play. We also have one team
playing this spring in the SEMSA soccer league.
