Organization
The CSC organization consists of a board, coaches and other volunteers.
- We work closely with the Chelsea Recreation Council.
- We try to provide an opportunity for further soccer development from what the Recreation Council's Program provides so that players can become prepared to play high school soccer.
- We try to provide a team to play on for all children who want to play.
- We try to make club decisions to benefit the "whole" versus to benefit "individuals."
- We try to provide a rewarding experience playing soccer.
The board, coaches and others associated with the club are all volunteers. The board members serve 2-year terms and can serve up to 2 consecutive terms for a particular office. An annual meeting is held in June for the election of board positions. The future success of the CSC will continue to depend upon the support and involvement of the soccer community. It takes the participation of many in order to have the Chelsea Soccer Club provide the service that many people would like to have it provide. There is an ongoing critical need to have parents of young CSC players get involved with the club in a board member capacity. There are many additional committee and ad hoc volunteer opportunities available as well.
CSC Meetings
The CSC holds a monthly open meeting where minutes, finances and general club
business is conducted. These meetings are open to all interested persons
and we encourage your participation. We hold these meetings at 8pm at
the Chelsea Community Hospital - Private Dining Room A. You can contact
any CSC Board Member to verify date and time of the next meeting.
Participation and Commitment
There are soccer seasons in both the fall and the spring. We hope all understand
that participating in travel athletics requires a high level on commitment to
the team by the players, parents and guardians. This means that the coaches
and teammates need the players to attend all practices and games possible.
The driving time to away games tends to be around 45 minutes on the average.
Team Formation Policy
The team formation policy was updated in the Spring of 2003.
It is available
here in MS Word format.
Club Dues
Your CSC fees include among others the uniform costs, league fees,
referee fees, equipment costs and the club operating costs. Please
note that the "Field Use" fee associated with all registrations is
earmarked for either assistance in purchasing land for dedicated
soccer fields or development of such fields. This fee is held in a
separate account and is not used to pay for the use of the School
District property and St. Mary's/Silver Maples property where several of
our teams practice and play games. School District fees for field use are
paid out of the remaining registration dues; St. Mary/Silver Maples field use is free.
The current per season cost is $80 and the uniforms cost $65.
Referees and Sideline Behavior
Typically, when CSC teams play at home, the referees are Chelsea area youth and
adults who have passed the required referee training and certification. We trust
that our players, parents and other spectators will show these referees the respect
that they deserve. We also encourage all spectators to offer positive comments
during the games and to allow the coaches to do the coaching.
Field Status
We are currently playing our U9 and U10 games on a field located at Beach Middle School
and/or Pierce Lake Elementary School. The U11 and older teams are currently playing
on Chelsea High School practice fields on the northeast corner of the new high school
property. Our teams practice on the field space known as "Papo," which is land
owned by St. Mary's Catholic Church and by Silver Maples Retirement Community and
at elementary schools in the District.
The Chelsea School District hopes to be able to meet our short-term field needs.
We pay the school district for our use of their field space for both games and practices.
There are many in the Chelsea Soccer Community who feel that there is a tremendous need for
additional fields dedicated to soccer use. A group of concerned citizens have been actively
pursuing available land with the idea of purchasing/leasing it for soccer field use.
Funds will have to be raised to develop any property obtained. Anyone interested
in being involved should contact any CSC Board Member.
Parking and Property Rules
Practice Fields: When parking at St. Mary's, please park in the spaces on the
northern side of the parking lot. Please note that while at practices, no one is
to use St. Mary's bathroom facilities. There is a portable unit on the field for
non-church related activities. It is very important that we heed these church requests
HS Game Fields: The Club is responsible to direct CSC teams' and Visiting teams'
spectators to refrain from use of the HS Tennis Courts and from trespassing in fields
and wetland habitat adjacent to the HS property at all times. These properties are
posted Private Property and absolutely off-limits during soccer club activities.
Also, please help keep our Chelsea field areas clean.
Smoke Free Environment: Please note that smoking is not allowed on any of
the Chelsea School District property.
